Chelsea’s next target in this transfer window is Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater, according to the Evening Standard.
The paper is reporting that Marina Granovskaia, ‘who is in charge of player negotions at Stamford Bridge, has been away from her base at the stadium for the past few days working on targets.’ and claim that Drinkwater is the primary one and has ‘an excellent rapport with N’Golo Kante, who joined Chelsea from Leicester last summer for £32m.’
Antonio Conte has already spent big so far this summer, forking out £40m on an injured Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco. But, having also sold Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, the Italian is determined to strengthen the midfield before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on developments at Southampton, after Virgil van Dijk handed in a transfer request on Monday. Expect a cheeky bid for the Dutch defender before the end of the week.
