Szczesny signs for Juventus

Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny has completed his £10m move to Juventus.

The 27-year-old Polish keeper has signed a four-year deal with the Italian champions, having spent the past two seasons on loan at Roma.

“When you come to Juve, it’s because you’ve been chosen. I had no hesitation,” he said. “I’m ready for a new challenge – Juventus is the best choice for the next stage of my career.”

With one of the world’s best keepers and an Italian legend in Gianluigi Buffon already between the sticks at Juventus, Szczesny is definitely going to have to fight for first team football.

The 39-year-old has already said that he is carrying on to play in the World Cup next summer as long as Italy qualify, and may even continue beyond them, but Szczesny believes the competitition will only make him a better player even if his match time is limited.

“I’m really happy to be here. I’ve already spoken to Buffon, a legend in our game, and I can learn a lot from him.

“I’m not feeling any pressure, I’m here to represent the club at the highest level.”
